John Watrus Beckwith papers, 1856-1890.

The John Watrus Beckwith Papers (1856-1890) include two folders of manuscript material and two volumes pertaining to the religious career of Rev. Beckwith. Items 1-20, contained in folders 1 and 2, are handwritten and annotated sermons. Volume 1, Register, 1856-1858 and 1857-1860, contains baptisms, marriages, burials, confirmations, in All Hallow's Parish, Maryland, 1856-1858 and personal accounts, 1857-1860. Also contains notes entitled "The Brief of a Course in Pastoral Theology," by A.C. Cox. Volume 2, Private Register, April 2, 1863-October 19, 1890, pertains to Rev. Beckwith's Georgia ministry. This volume is largely a private diary of his ministry containing some burial, baptismal, and marriage records.
